Background
Heritage Hills is an
18-hole public golf course operating under the direction of the Rogers County
Public Facilities Authority.
The project was
conceived in the early 1970’s as a subdivision of Claremore Junior College,
now known as Rogers State University. It was the first golf course ever
built utilizing funding from the Farmers Home Administration.
In 1996, HHGC broke
away from the University and the Rogers County Public Facilities Authority
was born. The RCPFA is a public trust with board members appointed by the
Commissioners of Rogers County. Heritage Hills is entirely self sufficient
and receives no financial backing from any government agency. The project is
legally recognized as a non-profit organization and any donations to HHGC are
tax-deductible.

Heritage Hills opened
for business on July 1, 1977. The layout was designed by
Donald Sechrest of Tulsa. It is a
challenging golf course that plays up to 6,750 yards with a course rating and
slope of 72.7 & 129 respectively. The layout is dominated by a mixture
of hilly and flat terrain. There are water hazards on 15 of 18 holes, but
not all hazards are in play for most golfers. There are currently 35 sand
bunkers and 4 grass bunkers. HHGC has a classic architecture that gives
reward to well played golf shots. Misguided shots will often result in deep
lies, sidehill terrain, and ample wooded areas. Fairways, tees, and
surrounds are sodded with Bermuda, and greens are Penncross Bentgrass.
